  • This deep ruby wine was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing two hours. Immediately expressive of tart cherries, almonds, dry earth and mulling spices, it is a medium-bodied, freshly acidic Sangiovese that includes dollops of Canaiolo Nero and Cabernet Sauvignon. The tannins are supple, the alcohol (13.5%) seamless and the Slavonian oak well-integrated. Solid on the mid-palate, it moves on to an energetic, medium-length finish. Although not particularly complex, this is an enjoyable red that screams for pasta with any tomato-based sauce. Drink now-2025.

  • This is a red wine from the Castle Banfi in Tuscany. It is a Chianti Classico Riserva 2015. We visited this winery twice of which ones in August 2015 during the last weeks of that growing season. It was a perfect one as I remember. Warm weather and perfect conditions. The wine reflects that. The color is ruby, it’s translucent with a medium viscosity (13.5% abv). The nose it’s invitating and suadent with notes of cherries and strawberries tertiary notes of leather. The palate confirms the nose with a perfectly balanced acidity and tannins , a medium body and a medium persistence. In summary a good Chianti with a great sensorial experience and a perfect pairing with any pasta in red sauce or pizza and of course with a good steak ( as we tasted it). PM:90

  • Semi-blind tasting of 5 Chiantis 7/31. 2 Classicos, 2 Riservas, 1 Gan Selezione.
Clear medium ruby with hints of garnet/brown around the edges on the medium meniscus.
Cherry, raspberry, SALT, roasted red pepper, vanilla and leather on the nose. The palate was less interesting. Medium body, high acid, fine medium tannins, Med+ length.
