Bottle: Mid shoulder fill. Cork totally saturated with slight seepage. Color: Deep garnet. Nice sheen. Pretty. Nose: Somewhat faint but clean and very nice. Black fruits with hint of oak and vanilla. At this age, I would have expected this to be earthy or leathery but it's not. Palate: Light bodied (12%abv) with crisp red and black fruit flavors. Very balanced and fairly long on the palate. Some bitterness in the finish.
Not a complex or serious wine and was certainly not intended to be. For a supermarket bottom shelf "monday night meatloaf" quaffer, this has performed way above its pedigree. A testament to the winemaking skills of John Fetzer.
