Give this wine time. In the cellar and in the decanter for now. The glass out of the bottle was tight, grippy and green. Drank over two days and by the end it had really opened. Red fruit, earth, and cocoa on the nose with a well structured palate. The tannins grip, not in a bad way but one begging for fatty red meat on the grill. Our filets were too light. It’ll continue to develop.

Nose like a very old timey California bordeaux blend. Lots of cab character: cassis, herbs, cocoa, espresso. Very savory. Medium plus acid, medium plus tannin. These wines really showcase the effect of altitude on Virginia wines--these are some of the most classically styled wines being made in the state.
