Nose: A bit of alcohol heat, fresh bright plum and black cherry, warm gravel, blueberry, and a tinge of oak.
Palate: Strongly tannic and acidic right now, but there's a lot of potential. Blue-ish black fruit, gravel, sort of a clay-ish dust, oolong tea, and a faintly coffee-ish thing.
Takeaway: I'm very glad I have 23 more of these in the cellar. It's good but not great right now, but in 2-3 years this is going to be a rock solid wine worth triple what I paid. 3/5 now, 4/5 later.

Deep ruby in colour with dark, smoky notes on the nose and palate. Violet, blackcurrant, black cherry, raspberry jam, mint, black pepper, liquorice, cedar, cloves, and mushrooms. All these intense, complex aromatics are balanced by high alcohol and pretty high acidity, with a smooth tannic backbone. Falls off a bit too early on the finish, but still an excellent wine at a decent price.

After drinking a bottle of the wonderfully integrated '09, this was a disappointment. Yes, it's very young, green and almost vegetal. Some reviewers think this a wine meant to be drunk young. I am not so sure. If I had a case I wouldn't try a bottle for a couple of years. There's some promise here and it would be fun to review this vintage again. My wine store says they are getting some '10 in soon from the property. Will give that a try.

Medium-bodied with tobacco leaf, herbs, olives and red berries on the nose as well as in the fresh, chewy, bright, ready to drink, medium-bodied palate.
