  • Aromatically closed, austere and fruitless for the first 3 hours. Then there was cedar wood on the nose and high-toned nail-varnish notes with just a little fruit showing. Better on the palate though, with red fruit beginning to show and some very grippy tannins throughout. Finishes quite long and enough acid to add balance. Would've liked more fruit overall but definitely needed time to open up. Not a great Vougeot but just clears the bar for a GC. Saving some to see how it does the following day. Much more open aromatically 20 hours in! Tannins very drying but acid and fruit balances it out a lot more now. Much better drink today than yesterday.
