very dark and dense. leather, cedar, tobacco -- musky, earthy, smokey oak finish. blackberry, black plum, spiced-stewed plum. walnut husk and green dish soap. drank last glass on day 2: cherry, clove, and alcohol. Hard to believe it was just a $20 merlot, outstanding for the price.

Platinum Tasting - International Merlots (Andre and Sabine's House, Mountain View, CA): Smooth nose, some heat (B+/B++). Smooth palate (B+).
Tasted blind and felt like a 10-15 years old California Merlot.

VERY oaky. Some pickle juice and some nice blackberry aromas. Blackberry and cassis on the palate. Well balanced. Just not that complex.

Very good value Merlot. Black & Blue fruit, oak and vanilla on the nose. Solid mouthfeel with integrated tannins and a nice cocoa powder finish.
