On the downward slide but still very nice and the muted fruit is actually pleasurable vs something more juicy. The mellowed black cherry fruit deepened over two days and is in a completely balanced package. Just enough backbone to avoid being flat. Short finish. Drink up!

I thought this was a very nice expression of Ferrington's terroir: morel mushrooms, forest floor, with plenty of black plum and dark cherry to pull things out of the dirt. The tannins were beautifully integrated, letting the fruit and secondary characteristics run the show. No intrusion from alcohol, acid, or anything else; just sheer enjoyment. I don't see this getting much better with time, nor do I see it lasting longer than a couple more years, so drink soon. Drank over two nights, and somewhat surprised by how well the final glass held up overnight, given its lightness. Pourer beware, though: this threw some heavy (and rock hard) sediment.

Still a very good wine but losing its fruit. I plan to consume the rest of this vintage in the next few months.
