A very well balanced wine and drinking well. Almost a bourbon nose (without the heat) with the oak, vanilla and dried fruit notes. Dried cherries on palate with some tobacco and leather notes. Tannins balanced by the acid and a long finish. Wish I had another bottle to try in a few years. By the way, this married the best with a beef chuck roast vs a 2nd growth St Julian and same vintage Chateauneuf du Pape.

Consumed at La Berlera in Riva del Garda. Incredible nose on opening but The wine needs time to catch up. On opening the wine was red colored water. Poured into a decanter. At the 1 hour mark this had started to put on weight and the tannins were starting to come around. At the 2 hour mark it had improved significantly but could use even longer. Overall it was enjoyed just be prepared for a long decant.

gorgeous nose, like Turkish delight, all the rose petals! Then very full bodied, meaty and earthy, just starting to take on some truffle notes. The full Barolo experience. Wonderful! Drunk from a magnum, around £100 from J&B.

Likeable and decent and drinking well now but no rush (from mag) best after an hour of slow ox
