Opened two hours before dinner which was grilled steak. The nose was dark fruit and mahogany. The palate was dark berries, black plums, tree bark, dried leaves and mahogany leading to a long full finish.

I received 6 bottles in my wine club shipment, and this is my second bottle. We thought the first bottle may have experienced bottle shock, but after giving this wine a few months to sit, we still aren't "in love" with this wine. "A proprietary blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah and Merlot, the 2016 Twelve Falls is an elegant and rich, dark, red wine, with layers of fragrant dark berry fruits and savory spice." Right now, the wine has a beautiful nose, but the taste just isn't quite there compared to other SL offerings (ie. The Leap or Muse). It's very dry, tannic, and offers little fruit and finish. Going to see how this ages and will revisit in a year or two.
