how did I miss the brilliant color? bright golden yellow.
shy nose botrytis stands out more than anything.
palate: impossible to compare to any pradikat of today. best comparison would be to say it drinks like a fat bodied yet acid dominant kabinett from a hot vintage. and with tons of botrytis.
this is the payoff from aging riesling. no oxidation+ tons of delicious
FYI, there's no hope of getting this cork out. getting past the crusted mold requires enough pressure that it just goes straight in.
lemon peel, pineapple, dried apple/mango, I'm getting botrytis, acid is definitely still there, mouthfeel /palate= grapefruit--pith and all. good, but "validated" in my love for young riesling. bring on the 2019's!!
intact cork, minimal molding, but easily slid into the bottle! up your ah-so skills, or be careful

From coravin, about a week after the first time. Nose has struck match, lime peel, whipped cream. Palate is more lime, canned pineapple and hints of papaya. Acidity is present but not overpowering; pretty much right in balance with the body and minimal residual sweetness.

Nose is classic Riesling, peaches and cream with honeyed notes and hints of slate. Palate is crisp and acidic and energetic and follows the nose to a T with underripe peaches, more honey and wet stones. Really nice balance of acidity and sweetness; in a great place now. Pair with crab fritters or a peach and burrata salad.

Beautiful older Riesling. Ripe apples and peaches, still bright acidity. Drinking great right now!
