The Return to Oinoscense (Oinoscent, Athens): We expected a monster. We decanted for a good hour thus but the wine was impressive even at this young age. It’s soft, very much new world and very much a Napa Can but made softly , with elegance and not pushed. Proper fruit here but not heavy or overripe or overextracted. Dark fruit, still very much in that dominant side and just showing first signed of evolution. Well round and polished on the tannin . Shame we open these wines so young but ever so delicious too. 93-94
Some Special Wines with a New Friend....well, sort of new! (Jason's House): Drank on 12th but this date is for tasting story - Ironically, the same score I gave it when visiting the winery, but for different reasons! When I tasted this at. the winery, I found it very good, but grippy tannins and all about power. Now that it has some time under its belt and some air time, it is more about finesse than power. In fact, Marvin was kind enough to bring 3 Kinsman wines, this, 2018 Rhad, and 2018 Impensata. Of the three, this was the most elegant and softest of the three. Shows what I know, because I figured no way could this possibly drink well without at least 7 - 10 years of age on it!
This wine was drinking quite well, but seemed to want to go to sleep after a few hours. I still think this wine will improve with time, but for different reasons. I would also suggest waiting on the Rhads until after these were gone, as that is one big, bad wine! This wine showed finer tannins and plenty off dark fruit, chocolate, and cedar with some hints of tobacco. Much more elegant and less powerful than my tasting in Napa. I will let my one and only bottle rest for about 10 years, if I can hold out that long! 95+ now, definite upside in the future. Making a note here (hopefully I read in the future) --- Drink this before opening Rhad!
P: Similar intense black berries from the nose, bitter graphite and minerals, black tar and deep deep earth.
[Day 2, slow-ox'ed for 14hrs, recorked and left at cellar temp] N: Not much changed, still very similar to the day before. Maybe a bit more floral.
P: The mid palate still holds ground on the bitter minerals and graphite, fruits have become creamier with more fruits on the end palate.
Ready to go straight from the bottle and can be cellared for the future to enjoy. Hard to tell how this would develop with time but I am learning it is worth finding out. I'm getting the sense that these are the ones you sip on whilst you wait for your Rhadamanthus' (I'm probably wrong - just a hunch).
Great, great wine. Decanted 6 hours and still, the glass evolution was profound. These wines have such great balance. It sure seems like these are perfect wines to age for decades, but they are fantastic now as well. Great fruit, very long finish, great acid.

Wine weekend in the Twin Cities; 11/10/2022-11/12/2022 (Where the frosty air is refreshing.. kind of): N: Dark green brambles, dark red and black fruits, blackberries and new clean oak. Very intense aromas of fruits.
