  • This is my first experience with this wine, but was blown away by the quality.
The gentleman who brought it decanted it for several hours. The quality was evident from the first nosing. Ripe blackberry, leathers, spice, and floral notes.
The palate was very dialed in, but the star for me was how fresh and lively the acids were. A very well balanced, full throttle shiraz.
Served Blind, I guessed high quality Southern Rhone.

Perhaps not my favorite style of wine, but there is no doubting the winemakers precision and ambition to make a top shelf wine. 96 points for me.

  • Deep ruby red in color. On initial pour, the nose is a lovely mix of wet earth, game, red fruits, musty. After a decant, some barnyard/manure on the nose. Palate is a juicy, slightly jammy strawberry at first, and after a decant balanced by savoury flavors of earth and green pepper. Complex and continued to evolve for multiple hours. Paired nicely with a ribeye, sweet potatoes, and asparagus.

  • Side by side 2017 & 2019 of this and both of similar grade but with a few different characteristics. This lovely 2017 was less spicy , more tannic , more together as a wine and less plethoric and voluptuous. Not sure if it’s the result of age or vintage ( or both) but this was very polished and well rounded Syrah to the 2019s Shiraz. Pretty 90-91

  • Deep crimson in the glass. Expressive nose with blackberry, licorice, fine spices, and dried herbs intertwined with soy sauce, grilled meat and a ferrous note. Lovely combination of dark concentrated black fruit and spice on the palate. Very structured and fresh. Can drink now with a decant but better to wait.

    WSET notes:

    Deep ruby.

Pronounced on the nose with blackberry, black cherry, licorice, dried herbs, garrigue, cinnamon, clove, soy sauce, grilled meat and iron. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. Full body, high alcohol, high tannins, high acidity, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for aging.

  • This was a wine that was described to me as straddling the new and old world of Syrah, and that is pretty accurate. This is a bit of a wild animalistic wine. Astringent at the start, but opens up layers of blue fruit, iron, blood, spice, leather, and fur. The syrah character is spot on, and there is so much pronounced iron and smoked paprika on this. Very neat wine. Will be interested to see this mature.
