Drinking colder does keep the oak at bay somewhat. Good acidity with citrus and tropical fruit notes. Many decades ago, I was a fan of this Cali Chard style, but not for a long time now. Still, it's drinkable, especially with food.

Butter bomb but with an acid backing. Holds up alright for 6 years on. I like this kind of thing about once a year to remind me what heavy malo tastes like.

Heavy tropicals and sweet vanilla oak on the nose, followed on the palate by surprisingly restrained red apple and pear flavors. Notes of vanilla, pineapple and a little "butta" with nice acidity and a hint of minerality. Much less of a "if BIG is great then HUGE is better" typical approach I find in California Chards. Interesting and enjoyed by a wide range of palates.
Not sure that at the SRP of $50 its any bargain but if you can score a deal (circa $20) its not a bad buy. ABV is 14.2% so there's certainly room there for the winemaker to tighten things up a bit if they decide to emphasize nuance over power going forward (doubtful - they seem to have dialed it to the place they want looking at past vintages).

Notes similar to previous tasting. Time to drink up (at least that's what I'm doing).
