One of the wines I opened for my annual WWC hosting.
Very unique. Mostly Grenache based. Came across as a tawny port and Sherry combo. Fairly light ruby in the glass, with a whiff of Sherry/oxidized notes right off the bat. Lots of old fig, graham cracker, cinnamon and crème brûlée. Not heavy or rich on the palate…there is a floral aspect to it, with candied red fruits too. Doesn’t have the depth or complexity of a great vintage port, but it showed extremely well for its age and still paired well with Stilton cheese and candied oranges!

By the glass at Noreetuh in NYC. Nose is dried figs, hay, date, candied orange peel. Palate is very fresh and light with candied cherries, orange bitters, burnt sugar. Surprisingly fresh for a 40-year old wine; not cloying or heavy at all and super easy to drink with or without brûléed pineapple ; )

Light transparent ruby color, almost pinkish, lightest spectrum in Rivesaltes I have ever seen. Floral, lot of rose petal, violet, hawthorn. Loooong saline finish with wet stone mineral. Not overly sweet, balanced, still youthful. Almost aged-Barolo-like. 92-93.

Viscous in the glass; floral and berry nose; dusty berries in the mouth moving into a slightly syrupy finish. Feels and tastes younger than it is... fun!

New to Rivesaltes. For me, not enough acidity to give it vibrancy, and it only got worse with each day bottle was open.
