  • Elegant wafts of fresh baked soft white bread , deep notes of mineral laden white truffles. Deep mineral citrus notes with freshness. Grippy. Sparkling mineral stony finish that coats the palate. Long steely noble. As good as it can ever get now. Drink up

  • End of the World Dinner (Nicolas Restaurant, Teck Lim Street, Singapore): Wow, this was a fantastic wine. It had a dropdead gorgeous nose, with licks of white cream and vanilla bean, butter and freshly baked bread, a touch of yeast, hints of white mushrooms, and then sweeter scents of honey and lemon custard and a whiff of salted caramel - wonderful aromas that could have come from a boulangerie rather than a cuverie. With a bit of time and air, it opened up even more, blooming with wonderfully perfumed floral notes. Just wow. The palate was amazing too. A very pure wine, this was quite the epitome of a Chevalier-Montrachet, showing a gentle, almost zen-like subtlety to its Grand Cru richness and weight, with delicious flavours of golden delicious apples and ripe figs, lemon curd and malt honey, all cut through by a stream of saline minerality that ran beneath the sweeter fruit. There was clear depth and authority on the wine, yet with its fresh, lively acidity and sleek lines, it had such wonderful balance and poise that it seemed to carry its weight with effortless elegance. Wonderful finish too, almost melting across the palate with a long, long pull of white cream, almonds and white fruit seasoned with a touch of sweet spice, flowers and mineral. Really superb. This was quite forward though, coming across even more advanced than the 1989 Domaine Leflaive Chevalier that followed it - time to drink up!

  • Not terrible, but well past its peak. Unfair to score this wine
