  • Appearance - clear, brown, the color of flat Coca Cola, black coffee, root beer.

Nose - I’ll admit, not much to compare it too. Wonderful. Medium plus, black licorice, honey, old wood, vibrant, not musty smelling, has that tawny port smell and then some. Raisin, fig, mincemeat pie filling. Dried fruits with lemon baked over it. Like the inside of a rugalah, nuts. Cinnamon. Some alcohol eye burn, you just want to savor it.

Palate - wow. Vibrant, full of life, similar to nose and powerful. It opens in mouth. Perfectly balanced to me. Sweet, but not a sweet wine. Some tart, some savory, I think it taste like a rugalah my grandma made. You even get that buttery crust feel but in liquid form. Medium plus body, acidity is medium, finish is long. A little spicey pepper on finish. Feels balanced. It’s succulent. A perfect end to a meal.

    Huge treat!

I may have been a bit generous on the rating but....I’ll decide that the next time I sample something from this vintage.....wow.
