Dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, concentrated complex core of black raspberry and black currant accented by a layer of sweet mocha chocolate turning to tones of clove and hints of vanilla and spicy oak, turning to smooth fine tannins on the lingering finish.

This is drinking very well right now and way better than I remember when first purchased. Nose of red raspberry with some blackberry. On the palate is full of ripe fruit, raspberry, blackberry and maybe a little olive on the mid palate. Finish is long with very fine tannins. Looking forward to the next bottle.

Splash decanted and poured into Reidel stemware. Nice deep violet color. I detected a bit of TCA funk on the nose that was inhibiting my enjoyment of this wine. Our guests liked this better than a 99 Brunello we had opened earlier. I tasted pleny of 2001 cabs over the past few years and wonder if I am cellaring too long or if my natural basement cellar is not ideal. I was expecting more from this bottle.

Nose of cassis & olives. Luscious, ripe fruit, black & boysenberry. Slightly syruppy texture and alcohol stands out a bit (too much?) on the finish. Typical mtn fruit profile.

Tastes a bit green with some nice flavors but too lean to be really good.
