Opened side-by-side with the 2019 Sandhi Central Coast Chardonnay to see how they stacked up. This '17 poured a bit richer in viscosity and color. Deeper yellow. This is lovely. Reasonably complex with prominent tropical fruits, but still good acidity and balance. Held up nicely too grilled chicken kebabs and veg, but also drinkable on its own. I'm a big fan.

After spending some time in Burgundy and seeing how they love their white Burgundy, I've decided to be more open to the Chardonnay varietal. So many Americans seem to be obsessed with hating Chardonnay. This wine pours a straw to light gold, low legs. On the nose I get some of the much maligned vanilla/spice (dare I say butter?), but on the palate there is bracing acidity, citrus and tart pear. Some apple, not a Granny Smith but not a Red Delicious. Think McIntosh. On the finish pleasant herbal and honey notes. This was a delightful wine. Why am I drinking so much Sauvignon Blanc?

Some weight here, tropical.
Nice core of acids to help put things in balance.

I sorta like it, but it is really just too buttery and that overwhelms the fruit and crispness.
