  • There aren't many producers of Gamay outside of Beaujolais that can be named masterminds of the grape. Daniel Sage makes some of the most sought after wines in Ardeche and with good reason. These magnificent drops are untamed, vibrant and can heal the soul; but always possess great aromatic complexity and endless drinkability. Drawing strength and expressiveness from the age of the vines, rocky terroir and the vigneron’s unique vision, the wines always have unique depth and savage, yet gentle power. Original, unmistakable.

This Gamay is clocking at 13.5% (climate change is real, folks) and is inviting like dinner in a dark cold castle. An experience if you're up for a challenge. A Rugged Gamay as deeply structured as I've ever come across. This is reserved, but if you give it a few hours, a few days, the fruit starts to smile and the underlying character begins to show. Cherries, plum, coffee, violets. Easy to see this aging for some time, but damn me, I'm a greedy bastard.
