  • Nose: mint with a slight citrus, sage, leather, black licorice, tobacco, graphite. There are distant fruits but they do not play a huge role in the nose.

Heavier mouthfeel and body, blended with outstanding smooth texture. Dryness hit you but it is not a huge highlight, not bad or good, just part of the experience. More red cherry like flavors begin to express themselves, balanced by cacao and black tea bitterness. Great tannin, finish, and lasting flavor that kind of cancels out the fruit, which I personally like.

    Helluva balanced wine!

  • Dark purple center with light purple edges
Nose: oak, licorice, cigar box, blackberry, sage, & eucalyptus.

Nice heavy milky body, very dry with great dusty tannins, and a bitter lingering finish. Blackberries, toasted oak, tobacco, and a hint of mint leaf.

Everything is in line to age very well as this is balanced and in harmony currently. I enjoyed as is but some may find it too young for their taste. Plenty of room to grow and develop and it should do that for a decade. As (I believe) the first expression of Alberto Bianchi’s work as head winemaker this ‘16 is noticeably less oaky than prior vintages, and I am very happy about that.
