  • 11,9% alcohol, 29 g/l residual sugar.

Deep, luminous burnished golden yellow color. Sweet, complex and very attractive nose with wonderfully developed aromas of panna cotta, caramel, some Russian candy, a little bit of dried peach, light developed tones of smoke and nutty toast, sweet hints of apple jam and fruit salad and a woolly touch of lanolin. The wine is medium-bodied, juicy and silky on the palate with developed medium-sweet flavors of exotic spices, burnt sugar, some syrupy richness, a little bit of lemon marmalade, light developed tones of bruised apple, wizened peaches and browned butter, a subtly herbal hint of minty greenness and a touch of steely minerality The wine feels moderately high in acidity, which lends enough freshness and sense of structure to it. The finish is long, juicy and subtly sticky with complex flavors of exotic spices, developed notes of creaminess and bruised apple, some lemon marmalade, a little bit of Russian candy, a hint of browned butter and a touch of wildhoney.

A very complex, tasty and beautifully developed Grand Cru Riesling from the sweeter end. Although the wine is exhibiting some aged notes now, at 18 years of age, the wine still manages to feel relatively youthful and most likely it is still some way off from its peak. Very enjoyable already, but I won't doubt it will get better with further cellaring. A delightful effort, goes especially well with tangier cheeses. Solid value at 35€.
