From a half bottle. One of the first French Sauvignon Blanc's that didn't make me think "cat-piss". A fair hit of minerality, actually reminded me somewhat of a Pfalz Riesling; starts out as almost a bloody iron note, but becomes a second tentpole of the wine alongside its acidity, and sticks around in the throat for some longevity. There's also a savoury brackish / alkaline flavour, almost like a Chardonnay - in fact the whole wine is like a cross between dry Riesling and lightly oaked non-malolactic Chardonnay.
There's peach and almost pineapple in there too, but I only really get strong fruit flavours from NZ and Ozzie wines. There's a hint of sweetness, more in the mouthfeel (e.g. glycerol) than actual sweetness.
A complex wine, and interesting to taste, especially after it's warmed up.
