A gentle domestic rendition, but just a bit small for my taste! Claret is a major planting in my country, Tamil-Nadu, and I found a pleasant contrast between the Cuillin Hills and Indian Clarets. The particular labels I enjoy back home are made in less industrialized, low tech/yield methods that often produce wines of greater connectedness than adherence to tradition. Both wines gave the juicy crimson velvet texture that I love about Claret, but Cuillin Hills was far lighter: almost Pinot according to my palate. $180 was the perfect price to experiment with a new case, I'll stretch it further by making mulled wine or Sangria. If I didn't order wholesale online, I probably wouldnt be telling you any of this.

On FatBeagle's recommendation opened this wine while organizing cellar. Pleasantly surprised, still a good amount of fruit (blackberry, black cherry) with firm tannins and decent acidity.

Found at the bottom of the cellar and was pleasantly surprised. Aged nicely with plenty of cherry flavors and some oak notes as well.
