Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • My tasting note below was for a much better showing. Tonight's bottle is murky, soup-like. Drink through 2007.

  • Quite nice. The fruit is sweet, but balanced against some tangy acidity. Some forest floor and cola notes, orange zest acidity. Very lively palate, plenty of zip and energy, and no doubt that the lively acids allow for that. At 11 years old, the fruit is starting to get a bit dry, but the wine is still very interesting and the texture is very pleasing - tannins smoothing out and good cohesiveness, mellowing well. Drink sooner rather than later because of the fruit just starting to dry and a bit of an emptiness at the end. B

Burgundy-Report

(Rion Daniel Nuits St.Georges Les Grandes Vignes) Deep ruby-red, not 100% bright. The nose betrays what must have been a fair whack of oak in this wine's youth, but it's coming together now - just a little creamy with smokey, dusky black fruit. Fresh, mouthwatering acidity, fine density to the mid-palate and a lingering finish. Perhaps it's just a little tart to be described as very well balanced, however, very enjoyable though it's my last...
