  • This is drinking perfectly right now.. right out of the bottle had lots of fruit on the nose and also vibrant on the palette. Even better with a short decant. Second night still good but had lost a little bit. I wish I had another bottle, but would drink up over the next little while.

  • Heavy and brawny blackberry and dark earthy plum notes carry just enough cut to hold the thickset core together. At times, overly lush on the front end and blocky on the back, the profile here tips a bit to the heavy and chewy side and trades some principal freshness and purity for thickness. Finishes slightly grainy. Threw off a decent swirling of sediment. It's a dense dollop of flavor to be sure. 87-90 points depending on your tolerance for weighty expressions of the varietal.

Despite this wine's leaning toward opacity and bulk, it paired well with a two-month dry aged ribeye with smoked maiitake mushrooms, grilled garlic scapes, and the best truffle jus I've ever had in my entire life - the jus helped the wine more than the wine helped the dish (Michael Warring restaurant).

  • Very pleasant. Not heavily spiced but nice balance of fruit, earth and spice. Another excellent wine from Hartford.

  • First of two bottles purchased at the winery last September, and now wishing I sprung for more. First sip exhibited a bit more oak than I like. But, with air it blew off, and transformed into a beautifully balanced wine with lush dark fruit, herbs, and ample acidity. Drinking nicely now, but should hold for 3 to 5 years.
