A Woodinville daily drinker blind tasting: ‘17 Betz Untold Story vs ‘17 Avennia Frank The Tank. Decanted both for six hours. (I had a bit of time during midday WFH to pop corks.). FtT is a pretty standard LB Bordeaux blend. Betz is a Bordeaux-Rhône blend.
Have to say, pretty pleased with both wines. I buy these every year, but getting them at a discount, given the times, was a plus. Shout out to Betz for donating a portion of the proceeds.
Full transparency, I guessed wrong on which was which. The Betz was more tannic, so I assumed it was the Cab heavier Frank. Initially, both the missus and I favored the Frank — it was more drinkable (make sense for a wine built for a restaurant group.) Overtime, the Betz’s depth and complexity prevailed...but just barely. Both are solid though and I’d be happy with either Mon-Thr.
Look, these are not the top-end from either producer. But for <$25 delivered to my door these are killer. You are silly to say otherwise. The Betz gets a Tanzer 89...that’s like a JEB 94! Serious juice at a steal.

Nice drinking but not very challenging. Nice color and notes of red fruit. Easy drinking as a restaurant wine probably should be

Very nice QPR blend. 30 minute decant and it's ready to go
