So glad I kept this one so long. Great stuff. Lots of serious interest here for a wine of this level. Fruit, body, lovely weight and density, smokiness, and a really sexy juicy sweetness at its heart. Still vigorous at 16 years.

Decanted for one hour before tasting. Purple colour with slightly more red edges. Powerful sweet red fruit on the nose (cherries, red currant and wild raspberries). On the palate; dense, concentrated, very well balanced and long. Further exposure to air “blackens” the fruit somewhat and reveals more earthy secondary aromas. A very enjoyable Syrah blend. It performs nicely against comparable (but often more expensive) wines from the Rhône.

Stunning at this age. WOW. Interesting, elegant, and powerful. I wish I knew how to find more. At $38 US, I'd call this reasonably priced.

Smoky, soft tannins, and quite plump... impressive
