Really excellent wine - not as good as the 96 Caves Sao Joao I had a few weeks ago, but a lovely expression of old Baga. Very fresh still, tannins are a little more rounded, and the flavor is delightful

Very fun, my first time with this producer and grape. Somewhere between aged Bordeaux and Rhône. Soft earth, worn leather, some blackberry, anise, mint and eucalyptus. Tertiary notes are just starting to appear, but this is beautifully aged and drinking so well with refreshing acidity and seamlessly integrated tannins.

-- decanted approx. 20 min. prior to initial taste -- -- tasted non-blind over less than an hour --
NOSE: high-toned earthy/minty mineral set against some light, medicinal, red fruits; aged cherry; moderately expressive; aromatics do give the overall impression of an aged wine.
BODY: violet-dark ruby color of medium-deep depth; slight bricking throughout; medium-light bodied.
TASTE: very flat; suspecting TBA, as I'm finding it difficult to call TCA. A second bottle was opened, and that one was more expressive, so either something was off with this one, or this is simply some bottle variation on full display.

NOSE: red-fruited --- fruitier than the other bottle of the same also opened this evening; minty, but not as strong as other bottle; roasted celery.
TASTE: marginally better than the other bottle this evening; both bottles this evening suggest this wine is on its downslope.

The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like strawberry and blackberry.
