Took a good 3 hours in the decanter to oxidize the tannins to the point where it really shined. After that it was like a montmorency cherry juice with blackberry and blueberry. Very nice! Too bad it wasn’t ready to drink by dinner time (opened 1.5 hours before).

Deep and complex with notes of blackberry, black plum and some minerality. Paired well with Italian meatballs, marinara sauce and spaghetti — to your Italian seasonings preparation be sure to add fennel. This wine packs some heat but ABV is not extreme. This Montepulciano is rich and bold but not a fruit bomb. Drink now or continue aging for a few years. Has the acidity and tannins to age.

Gentle hints of cloves and fennel which opens up to oak and cedar. This is brick red in color with aromas of blueberry and blackberry. It has a smooth profile with plush tannins. Medium bodied with decent aging potential that will soften the edges over time. Would go well with red pasta and pork chops.
