Pop & pour to serve with Shepard Pie & salad. Same impression as before, unappealing dusky garnet red in the glass. A little harsh on the palate. Won't repeat when I finish the remaining bottle. Spouse agrees. 84 pts.

The nose was a nice dark berry smell with a little bit of oak. It starts with a medium body with light berry punch. The middle has a real nice gritty berry with some earth notes to it. It finishes a really nice with the perfect amount of berry and some dry tannins.

Another impulse purchase at Costco; 85% Merlot; 15% Cabernet Franc, 13.0% abv. (claims James Suckling - 90 pts).
Opened 1 hr before serving, pouring a glass to expose the shoulder. Dusky (somewhat off-putting), red garnet pour. Originally seemed a little light-bodied and some harshness; originally thought about 84 pts. Opened up a little after an hour, Red berries & blackberry on the nose, Red raspberry on the palate. Still tannic, but had smoothed out. Turned out ok but probably won't repeat once I go through the remaining bottles. 86 pts.

Far better than the first bottle though still a bit of the “dusky” noted by Red Freddy. Will try with steak

I bought 2 bottles of this and hope the second does not have the molding redwood hot tub smell and taste of this bottle
