Given my prior experience with the 2018 PGC Freedom Hill, I decided to hold this until now and splash decant after opening. Based on very limited exposure with this winery, the producer seems to create a more masculine style through extraction: deep ruby color, medium body, structure, and lots of concentrated fruit flavor. In a blind tasting, I would have thought California, not Oregon. Although I’m not a huge fan of the style, this worked fine with the baked chicken queso and mixed vegetables. Clearly, there’s enough here to pair with something more substantial, beef stew, lightly sauced beef or pork, beef Bourgogne, grilled salmon. Drink through 2028.

Nose of red raspberries, light rhubarb, and some floral notes. Layers of red fruit, wet stones, forest floor, shale, and lively acdity. Lither, light tannins with strawberry, clay, and waves of stony minerals, notes of sea salt, and clay. Drinking well now but may develop further.

Lots of acidity and tannin, dark black fruit and a touch of oak. Pretty austere, and didn’t open up too much even after being open a couple of nights. Not bad, but not the best example of PGC. May be better once the tannins have had some time to relax.

Intense acidity and structure. Tight, but dark presentation of Pinot is there. Strong violet note on the nose. Vibrant intense light red almost violet color. Impressive.

Drinking well, clean red fruit, hint of salinity.
