  • This wine was very interesting. Chardonnay, Sauv Blanc, Nebbiolo vinified in the white wine method, and Incrocio Manzoni. From my understanding they dry a portion of the grapes before vilification and by the intensity of the wine it shows. Color was a deep golden borderline dessert wine looking almost like Sauternes or Tokaij. The nose was explosive with intense tropical fruit and pretty red fruit characteristics that almost reminded me of a red Starburst which I'm guessing is coming from the Nebbiolo. It was balanced by nice acidity and a sweet petrol and limestone minerality.
The minerality reminded me of high quality German riesling in a way. That does not suprise me when you see the terraced vineyards at the foot of the Alps where these grapes are grown. The finish was long echoing all of the great notes on the palate and the nose. To be clear the wine was dry but generous and lush with bracing acidity. My first wine from the Alpi Retiche region but I will definitely seek out more. If you are a wine explorer like myself look up this region and find the wines. Outstanding 95+

  • By the glass at the Icehotel Restaurant, Sweden. Part of their wine matching and from a just opened bottle.
A blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc with a decent helping of oak in its elevage, well made albeit a bit obvious and fatty. Good wine and worked well with food but also one of many. 88
