  • Very solid. I'm seldom a fan of malo in my Chard, but this seemed to work OK for me. Plenty of tropical notes leading the nose into a well detailed palate of fleshy white orchard fruits and tropical treats. The acid backbone is a thing of beauty as it keeps everything in balance and gives the needed lift for the nearly cumbersome load of fruits. Works really well with complex pairing dishes and has a few more solid years ahead of it. Approx $20, 14,0% abv, drink thru 2013.

  • Same note as last time, maybe even a little better.

  • Not the most complex wine, but an honest wine with apple/pear, judicious oak, and tropical floral notes with a crisp finish. Worked great with scallops.

  • Golden color. Fruit-driven nose with somewhat heavy-handed oak. Good balance of acidity, fruit, and oak and (sadly) just a touch of heat on the finish. Still quite enjoyable and a very nice chardonnay for the price.

  • 1hr decant time. Rich, Martinelli's apple juice color. NOSE- burnt rubber on street component, banana peel, oak, but not much fruit to speak of; lite tropical scents coming through as kiwi-tangerine, citrus. This is very creamy and lush with medium/heavy body throughout the cycle. Citrusy acid presents itself front to back, as do tangerine and apple flavors entwined by toasty oak and vanilla. This completes with a rather bitter finish (grapefruit), less tang more sour. The mouthfeel is very nice and silky, this wine's best attribute IMO; mid-palate is full enough. The oak influence is somewhat overdone. I could use more minerals and a higher level of richness in the flavors. To me this is good but certainly far from great. The high acid helps with food. I've had 2 bottles of this now, and neither overly impressed me. But I see a lot of respected tasters raving for this wine. Perplexing to me.
