Crunchy raspberry, iron, mineral. Brilliant acidity behind abundant cool macerated fruits. Long finish, with that streak of mineral across soft tannin. Best Pinotage in recent memory. Definitely going to have this wine on my radar.

Good dose of oak on the nose. Deep, sweet, and smoky. Lovely palate. Crisp acidity, and soft tannin. Drinking nicely now, but clearly could stand up to some aging. Very tasty juice.

Option for this year’s International Pinotage Day was Beeslaar 18. Pinotage is still v much acquired taste for me - cannot get my head around this grape and the style of wine it represents. That said, this is arguably a well-made piece, true to its origin. Dark garnet ruby, semi-translucent with darkish edges. Palate brings about bitter dark chocolate combined with coffee, brambles, plums, earth, smoke. Palate is decently fresh with medium acidity, fine grained grippy tannins, fruit going slightly more red. Brief.

A weakly structured wine with gobs of jammy fruit, heavy oak, and banana notes.

Also somewhat more clean and yet still peanuts. And oddly enough not bad. Short on the finish but actually still clean.
