Now 2.5h after openimg. Cherry and strawberry aromas w a hint o fherbs. Palate w strawberries and a bit of cherry, a hint of herbs and grapefruit pith. Moderately short finish. Tasty but straight forward wo much complexity and length.

I'm usually a big fan of the Cruse Pet Nats, but this one was a miss for me. There's a pretty pronounced reductive / savory / cooked onion sort of thing that really clashes with the tart and maybe a little underripe fruit. Fruit playing second fiddle to savory, in a sparkling wine, just isn't a winning combination. Is it truly terrible? No, but I prefer my Pet Nats bright and fruit forward.

Served in a pair with the St. Laurent bottling, this was the more savory of the two. It eventually showed cranberry style fruit, complete with the tartness/bitterness. It actually worked well with some food, but on its own didn't provide much pleasure. It felt like some of the severely dry craft ciders that try too hard for seriousness.

I tried hard to like this. Came back multiple times and multiple nights. Just not good.
