Another perfect match with Thanksgiving dinner, smooth fruity aromas and blackberry flavors, medium body with medium legs. Popular with family and friends…

This was my bottle and it was voted best wine of the night, by the slimmest of margins over the Domaine Serene 2014.
Won me a free dinner at our Judgement of Kuala Lumpur, Pinot Noirs of the world (NW v Old World) session which was double-blind for the 1st ever time. We had 5 Old Worlds and 4 NW wines at our session, with this being the last bottle to be presented.
Bright and lively strawberry notes, lovely ripe sweet cherries on the palate and a medium-full body mouthfeel. Great NW producer, such consistency!
Why "Sta"? The spelling of the word 'Sta' in 'Sta. Rita Hills' came out of a legal suit from long-time Chilean winery named Santa Rita. The AVA conceded to the Chilean winery and the first word of the AVA will forever be spelled as 'Sta.' but we can still say 'Santa'!
The mountain ranges funnel cool sea breezes and fog throughout the region. The fog creates some of the coolest summertime temperatures - even cooler than Carneros in Napa and the Russian River in Sonoma.
The breezes help circulate air and deter rot, as well as extending the growing season by up to 40 days longer than most other California growing regions.
Located between Buelton and Lompoc in the north-western part of the county, Sta. Rita Hills lies closer to the equator than any European wine region.
Thus it should be much too hot for cool-climate varietals such as Pinot Noir. However, Pinot thrives here and produces elegant, structured wines. It is the valley's unique east-west orientation which is the key to success with this cool climate variety.

Wow! Drinking beautifully. Elegant, cherry, strawberry, some cedar and spice. Really special California Pinot. I wish I had more!

This was worth the wait. Became a beautiful wine and no harsh acidic mouthfeel. Nice cherry nose and flavor.
