Serious, “weighty” scent with a hint of eucalyptus seems to promise concentration and richness; sweet plummy entry quickly mutates to Cherry Coke before the tannic, slightly bitter, headily alcoholic mid-palate sets in; surprisingly abrupt, dry, tannic finish. $74 for the "library release" at cellar door. 87P

The Third Annual Blind Tasting of American Pinot Noir (My House, Houston, TX): Retail $62. A very intriguing nose (a good thing) with not exactly red fruit, certainly not black fruit, but not quite blue fruit. A touch of sweetness, and a rich, wet, earth note. Yum. Really wonderful fruit, great balancing acidty, healthy tanins, and a fabulous finish. OK. Whoa. Outstanding. 94 Points. thedrunkencyclist.com

One of D-G's "heartier" pinots, if that's the right word? Enjoyed it very much.
