I got to taste this in the barrel, and really enjoyed it. It was grapefruity and a tiny bit fizzy, and it was really interesting to see what it tasted like before any malolactic fermentation or any appreciable oak. After bottling, it was more of a traditional chardonnay. More on the malolactic and slightly oaky side than on the steely side. To me this tasted closer to a CA chardonnay than to a white burgundy, so I wasn't as enthusiastic about it as I'd initially hoped to be.
