  • Blend: furmint, hárslevelű, kabar
    from the vineyards Medve, Úrágya, and Birsalmás with volcanic soils
    (zeolite, riolite, tufas), loess at 180-200 m and southerly exposure.
    Vines of average age 30-35 yrs planted 3,000-5,000/ha yielding 500 l/ha.
    Manual harvest with strict selection of cluster and individual botrytized grapes.
    Fermented in new and used French barrels with indigenous yeast.
    Aged 20 months in new oak.
    Background: Sauska Winery founded in 2006 by Krisztián and Andrea Sauska
    Head Winemaker: Rakaczki Gábor

    A(ccuray)=2: Med gold. Mildly botrytized nectar.
    B(alance)=2: Ripe rich components with adequate structure.
    C(omplexity)=2: Apricot, mango, honey, herbs.
    D(epth)=2: Round mouthfeel. Expansive palate and finish.

    Wine Tally Score [2,2,2,2]= 8/10

    Unctuous, and not cloying.
    Bit less vibrant than previously tasted on 9/08/2021.

  • Strong appricot flavor, with very mild botrytis character. Nice round wine, primal fresh fruity flavors. Not typical aszú, perfect match for desserts with tropical fruits and appricot.
