  • Opened and tasted 3 hours prior to serving. Bright cherry nose with some floral and leather notes. Left in open bottle. By dinner the fruit was more complex on nose with chalk also evident. Palate had medium fruit weight with light, spiny acidity and hint of tannins. Very nice, great with seared halibut.

  • Poured 1/2 hour before tasting. Vegetative. No fruit. Burned rubber nose. Didn't improve thru dinner.

  • Decanted 2 hours (benefited). Since last year this has not moved much at all. Still has a lovely complex nose and the palate is tense, showing complex fruit, spiny acidity and slightly bitter tannins. A great match for roasted scallop/fennel ravioli - more so than the '07 Hansel Alyce, but the contrast did not allow one to much sense the softening of this wine over the evening (it did, but never matched the silky creaminess of the Cali PN).

  • Opened for 90 minutes, no decant deemed necessary. Woody cherry with asian spice and earth on nose. Medium intense fruit that had a bitter element initially, but quickly dissipated in the glass. Softish tannins, tart-leaning acidity, some complexity and length, some finesse, of place. Over the evening this went through several aromatic and flavor transformations that were a joy to observe. Spice and forest floor emerged with time as the fruit became darker and creamier. Lacked oomph, but not character.
