  • A good quality Sauvignon Blanc that shows a warmer weather profile than the typical French or NZ examples (probably from the vintage and the location both). Also less reductive than the average modern wine from those regions.

Built on white and yellow fruit and flowers: pear, scuppernong, honeysuckle, maybe a hint of ginger. M to M+ acid, M to M+ body, decent balance but a rounder profile than I like for the varietal. This also doesn’t have much of the salty minerality that I love in good Pinot Bianco and Pinot Grigio from Trentino-Alto Adige; there’s a hint of it but no more.

The quality is only okay for the price, and I’d rather drink a Loire SB *or* a north Italian Pinot Bianco/Grigio of comparable quality/price; this doesn’t feel like it has anything special to offer either for the varietal or the terroir. I’m still looking forward to trying the reds from this producer.

Flavor wise a great pairing with asparagus in bozner sauce but needed a little more acid to match to the vinegar from the sauce.

    6.0-6.1/10
