Late night bottle opened for what's left of the group by host KenK. Avery generous host, indeed! Another in the long list of '18s that have yet to fully come around and surely would have been helped along by more airtime than the paltry 30 minutes or so that we enjoyed it over. Lots of blackberry and chocolate. The power is there along with that '18 tannin structure throughout. My score is on what this would do with a few more hours of air right now. Probably 98-99 down the road? Ken was gracious enough to let me take the last third of the bottle home and I immediately placed a Repour stopper into it. Not planning on sampling the rest tonight but will see how it does over the next few days and report back here with an addendum to this note. Thanks again, Ken!
addendum: ended up at dinner tonight at HMC and took this bottle along for the ride. Typical vacuum noted when pulling the Repour stopper out of the bottle, so almost 24 hours since opening. Tight still, due to the Repour preservation but the three of us wiped out what was left of the bottle over the next hour. Dark, black, dense fruit....reminded me of some LPV wines, not Stag's Leap. A touch of iron pan, too. Clearly this is well made and high quality fruit. It legitimately achieved the 95 for me tonight and I stand by this one turning into a 98-99 pointer somewhere down the road.

Premiere Napa Valley; 2/22/2023-3/25/2023 (Napa, California): This is a big structured and muscular wine, showing lots of cassis, blackberry, blackcurrant and chocolate notes at this stages, waves of dark lush fruit fill the palate, along with firm tannins. This is going to be a powerhouse, but it needs time, 97+ future potential.
Massive wine with coarse tannins. Decanted and watched for two hours. Just not really approachable. Sealed up and tried again on day #2. Wow what a change. Just shows the future potential of this wine. This needs an 8 hour decant or wait 10 years.
