  • On the first taste I thought this wine was bad. I just popped and poured. I then let it warm in the glass; was not impressed. After one day in the bottle and left in the glass to air out this wine redeemed itself. Not fruity enough for me, but good mouthfeel and decent finish. Good purple color.

  • Drinking well with about 2 hours of air. Last bottle but could definitely use to age more as it really gains depth and smoothness with air.

  • My second bottle of Ed”s inaugural entry level wine at Cardano. This improved considerably with air, needed at least an hour in the glass to open up, and was best after two hours. Deep garnet in color, not overly expressive on the nose. Mostly dark blue fruits, some black cherries lace with a hint of chocolate, tobacco and violets. This is largely mineral driven, fruit is pushed slightly to the background, but it is balanced with good freshness. Best with food.

  • I siphoned a glass ala Coravin, the night before and micro-ox’d til dinner the next day. This has put on weight since my last bottle. blueberry preserves, violets, chocolate chip mint, spice and minerals. Nice depth, finish. Plays on the savory side of Napa, but the fruit satisfies. Unintentionally, I opened a 2018 beau vigne Juliet, which this wine is styled after, and comes from the same neighborhood. The Cardano was better, although the BV was PnP

  • Wife and I just finished an 18 Silenceux and needed a followup. PNP this 18 Cardano. Not fair since I'm about to start the Hashtag not yet 18s but hey thats what I have... Opens to a strong hard to describe smell, pungent, earthy slight citrus note. We ended up with lemony cheese rind but in a good way. After some air in the glass it mellows to alcohol lifted cherry steel. As with most Napa Cabs, in the glass this is dark purple and leggy. Initial impressions of are dark red fruit with my wife leaning black notes and I feel it leaans blue. Secondary flavors are green olive, oyster brine and ferrous minerality. At this early stage its slightly tart but it doesn't throw it too far out of ballance given the biggish fruit and strong but not overbearing tannins. Ater some air this wine totally mellows and loses a little interest. Having said that, i think its best drinking window is ahead.

I'd say 93 to 94 now with maybe a point hiigher possible. Good job Ed, Not quite up to the best of the BV wines but getting there. HMC
