  • Excellent as ever. Very translucent in colour. Good savoury fruit and a touch of spice in the finish. Great energy in this wine. Yum.

  • Whole cluster and semi carbonic? Pepper spice and stem? Finely ground pepper notes Brian. Super light on the palate, lively, easy does it, probably better chilled. Brian could drink this all day, and that is about the case.

  • Very tight, composite cork. Wine is a rather light carmine red with orange tinges.

On first opening, wine has a very “young wine” nose, but after an hour of air, the aroma is starting to round out and show some sweet cherry and red fruit notes with some herbal elements in the background; nose has a pleasing “softness” that hints of slight sweetness; some notes of green tobacco and earth; nice purity with a bit of herbal high-pitched aromas providing lift.

This has a very racy entry, surprisingly enough, with juicy flavors that are still rather young and unresolved; there is a pleasing herbal grip on the finish along with a very slight sweetness that balances well with the racy, herb-laden, rather leafy fruit that also has echoes of citrus (maybe blood orange) and citrus pith on the finish; medium weight but balanced by the very interesting mouth feel and complex, herb-tinged flavors – this seems like a RED version of Sauvignon Blanc! In a dark room I could easily mis-identify this as a very strange white wine!

This needs a couple of years to come around. This makes for an interesting, rather light but very flavorful red to go with a summer lunch. I’ll bet most CA wine drinkers would be hard-pressed to identify this wine! $25
