Nose: flowers, green apples, minerals (crushed stone) and a hint of petroleum Palate: the wine is well balanced, but I would welcome some more acidity. It’s long and has some “grip” to it as well. Palate is dominated by citrus and green apples.
Very little reductiveness and is in a good place to drink now I would say. However, it will probably develop nicely over many more years if you prefer tertiary aromas.

Quite unexpectedly, this Halgans 2018 is considerably richer and riper than the Frühtau 2018. The minerality is typically spicy and not as dusty, but it seems less filigree and even a bit honeyed. Excellent persistence. Alcohols are the same in both wines (13%, which is on the high side for the estate).

Barrel sample. Tasted next to 2018 Frühtau. Even in this warm vintage markedly cooler and darker in comparison, more herbal and mineral as well. Great intensity and grip on the palate, very precise and pure with great length. Impressive. 92-93+

At the winery. Great expression of grapefruit and balanced minerality. Excellent!
