First off, I’m not a huge Merlot fan because too many have a dirt taste. Having sampled Merlot straight out of both Hungarian and French Oak, that dirt taste is from the Hungarian Oak.
DS has done a nice job with this one. It is smooth and sweet with hints of plum and dark berry. My guess is this is mostly French Oak with a little of Hungarian blended in.
