Purchased for $12. Oh my. Yes. One whiff and I'm transported back to the winery, walking among those giant eucalyptus trees with Pedro teaching us about the wonderful history of this property. A delicious blend of Aragonez, Trincadeira, Castelão and Alicante Bouchet. I honestly can't stop smelling this. Dusty red fruit, leather, spice, eucalyptus, licorice. This is so complex. I can't believe this is only $12. On the palate, lots of the same with juicy acidity. The red fruit and eucalyptus really shine here. Firm tannins and a medium length finish. Really nice mouthfeel, but that nose. I love this. Definitely my favorite Alentejo producer and one of my top 2 favorites in all of Portugal.
OPINION: Highly Recommended

Purchased for $12. Very dark, slightly translucent ruby in color. I'm not sure what's going on here, but there is an unmistakable nose of salty sea air and almost like a very fresh seafood market. Reminds me of the fresh seafood markets down the shore in the summer. Despite some leather and strawberry notes, I just can't get passed that salty sea air. Withholding score

Tasted blind as part of a blind pizza and wine pairing class from Jockey Hollow. Guessed Portuguese Tempranillo based on color, structure, earthiness, and price point.
