Depp ruby in the glass, notes of development on the nose including earth and forest floor. Palate is dry, med+ acidity, med+ velvety tannins, med+ body, high alcohol. Med+ flavor intensity of currant, blackberry, herbaceous, leafy, earthy. Outstanding wine to drink now but has potential for further aging.

Château Maucoil's 2018 Châteauneuf is a deep ruby blend of 60% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre and 10% Cinsault. From a bottle that was uncorked, poured and serially tasted over three hours, it delivers a ripe package of dark bramble fruits, dried fig, Provençal herbs, licorice and black olive tapenade. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic, minimally oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it wraps its flavors with medium-weight, silky-textured tannins. Solid in the middle and medium-to-long on the finish, this wine has no rough edges and is very easy to drink. Give it an hour or so of aeration if possible. Drink now-2030.

Olives, thyme, garrigue and spice come along with the with sweet and sour cherries. Medium-bodied with a distinctive olive edge to the fruits on the palate, the wine finishes with a sharp, peppery edge with a tinge of chocolate in the finale.

A great representation of well-priced Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Nice and juicy with a good finish. Be sure to decant for at least 30 mins before drinking.
