88 on night 1 and 92 on night 2. Such a massive improvement it blew my mind. Was much too harsh from the oak on night 1 but on night 2 opened up beautifully with tons of lemon curd and minerality. Given the oak Pillot uses, sometimes these bottles just need either time or air. Given the ripeness of the '18 vintage, I think these bottles are good to go now with a long decant or open the day before.

Another nice white Burgundy, this one from Montagny which only produces white wines and has no Grand Crus vineyards. Yellow apple, tropical notes, minerals, med + acidity, med body. Aged on its lees for 15 months.

100% Chardonnay purchased from the 1er cru Les Gouresses in Montagny with limestone-clay soil and 110-year-old un-grafted vines sustainably farmed. Manual harvest. Fermented and aged in neutral French oak barrels. Aged on fine lees for twelve months and then racked out of barrel into stainless steel tanks for an additional six months. 13% Abv. 4 barrels made Winemaker: Jean-Marc Pillot (4th gen)
A(ccuracy)=2: Pale lemon/straw. Yeasty mealy varietal. B(alance)=3: Modulated components in harmony. C(omplexity)=2: Citrus, brioche, chalky minerality. D(epth)=1: Taut mouthfeel. Average length and finish.
Wine Tally Score [2,3,2,1] = 8/10
Appetizing, perhaps bit short on vibrancy.
