This took some time to open up and was better after a day. The nose was redolent with red berries, mainly strawberry, dark chocolate, and earth. Good finish and very smooth tannins. I plan to wait at least five years before touching another of these bottles.

More concentrated than its Vosne Romanee, and the aroma is less significant, but the body is consequently thicker and obvious. Likely I need to wait more years.

Coravin. Medium ruby, youthful color; aromatic, red cherry, a nice dusty five spice/asian spice, a bit of clove, nutmeg; palate is light-medium bodied, low tannin but youthful, impeccably balanced medium alcohol (13.5%), not at all out of line in a warmer vintage, balanced red fruit, fades just a touch through the midpalate, medium-plus acidity, tannins show a bit more towards the finish; finish is medium length and with a bit of structure more than fruit. This may be the ugly duckling in the Jerome Chezeaux lineup in a typical year, but this is very nice this year! Full of character, plenty of aromatics, and no warmth vs. the Boudots which shows a bit this vintage. Perhaps still not the best value for red burgundy, but I don't know of another place to get Vosne 1er cru at this price... 91-92, drinking surprisingly well now and I'm enjoying it.
